The Future of the Weight Loss Industry

Dana Fiser

Dana Fiser, former global CEO of Jenny Craig, discusses differing approaches to the business of weight loss from digital to brick and mortar. She also discusses the evolution of Jenny Craig, and where she thinks the industry is headed.

Dana Fiser independently consults in a CEO capacity with Metabolic Research Centers and through her own company Pearl Ventures, LLC. Previously, she served as global CEO of Jenny Craig until December 2013. During this time she worked closely with the Nestle M&A team to develop a turnaround and exit strategy for the business. After the sale by Nestle, she continued to work with Jenny Craig as a consultant until March 2014, transitioning Australia Jenny Craig to its new European ownership under the Curves brand. Ms. Fiser started her career in the health and wellness category in 1990 as a weight loss consultant for Jenny Craig. Over the next ten years, she held every operational field position in the company, ending as the Southeast Divisional Supervisor responsible for the growth and profitability of 100+ locations on the east coast. She then moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2000 as the Managing Director of the stand alone entity which included a home office team of 40 and 115 centers in Australia and New Zealand. She returned to the US in 2003 to head the franchise function for North America. Ms. Fiser then left Jenny Craig in 2003 to own and operate a health and wellness business based out of Florida. In 2007, she was asked to return to Jenny Craig under Nestle’s new ownership as the VP of NA Operations. She was then promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and then again to CEO in 2011. Ms. Fiser’s expertise lies in multi-unit retail operations, marketing, logistics, and financial analysis.
